Beauty and the Beast, Train Show Top Pittsburgh Weekend Events

PITTSBURGH, PA - The classic tale of “Beauty and the Beast” weaves a tender love story between the gnarled trees of the enchanted forest. Audiences are offered a glimpse at unexpected romance, heartbreak and the power of love through striking scenery and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater’s neoclassical choreography.

You can catch this powerful production this weekend at the Benedum Center on Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 21 at 8 p.m., Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Feb. 23 at noon.

• Greenberg’s Great Train & Toy Show, Feb. 22-23, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monroeville Convention Center.

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of miniature railroading at the train show! The train show is designed for children of all ages; for modelers, collectors and enthusiasts; for families in search of good old-fashioned fun; and for the simply curious. Each show features hundreds of tables of trains, accessories, scale models and collectible toys for sale.

• Mummy Mania Weekend, Feb. 22-23, Carnegie Science Center.

Visit this blockbuster exhibition this weekend and chat with mummy experts inside the gallery. Plus, purchase general admission to the Science Center and enjoy mummy-themed activities throughout the building, snap mummy-inspired photos at a green-screen photo booth, and explore the history, science, and processes behind mummification at the Pharaoh’s Phrog live demonstration show in the Works Theater.

• Penguins vs. Buffalo Sabres, Feb. 22, 1 p.m., PPG Paints Arena.

Currently in second place in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division, the Pens take on the Sabres. The boys from Buffalo are in the chase for a wild card berth in the NHL playoffs.

• Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure, Feb. 23, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Byham Theater, Downtown.

Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure is an experience that invites you to jump in and explore unknown ocean depths where prehistoric marine reptiles lived eons ago – and maybe live still today. Actors, technology, puppets, science and imagination come together to create a visual experience that connects young audiences to the real science of paleontology.
