Bed Bugs Prompt Pittsburgh-Area School District To Close

MUNHALL, PA - The Steel Valley School District is closed Wednesday so its buildings can be treated after several recent cases of bedbugs.

"While out high school and middle school were treated (Tuesday) evening, many of our secondary students have siblings in our elementary schools," a message posted on the district website stated. "To the fullest extent possible, we want to be able to reassure our students,
their families and our staff that our buildings are safe and healthy places to learn and to work."

Classes are expected to resume in the district on Thursday.

Last month, bed bugs forced the closure of the Clairton School District.
