Beloved 73-Year-Old Pittsburgh-Area McDonald's Worker Retires
Martha Kennedy, 73, is calling it a career after more than 30 years at a Pittsburgh-area McDonald's.

BUTLER, PA — Martha Kennedy doesn't hesitate when asked her favorite aspect of manning the drive-thru window at the McDonald's at 500 Greater Butler Mart for more than three decades.
"The customers. I love my customers so much," she said. "It's wonderful that the kids who used to come in with their parents are now all grown up and bringing their own kids to visit me.”
Kennedy, 73, will miss those customers and they undoubtedly will miss her. After 30-plus years, Kennedy worked her last shift under the Golden Arches on Wednesday.

McDonald's owner Meghan Sweeney called Kennedy "part of the secret sauce of McDonald's of Greater Butler Mart.
"Customers visit just to char with Martha, and generations of coworkers have grown up around her. Everyone has a fond memory of Martha."

Kennedy said her all-time favorite McDonald's menu item was the grilled chicken sandwich. But since that product was discontinued, she now considers the quarter pounder with cheese her most preferred meal.
Although she no longer will be distributing burgers at the drive-thru, Kennedy plans to keep busy in retirement.
“I’m going to visit the casino once a month," she said. "I like the one-armed bandit. Cha-ching!”
