Bicyclist Rescued After Being Propelled Down Mt. Washington Hillside

A woman was rescued Sunday night after her bike brakes failed and she fell down the hillside.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman bicyclist was rescued Sunday night after falling about 20 feet over a Mt. Washington hillside.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the woman was riding on East Sycamore Street when he brakes failed. She hit a median before tumbling down the hill and becoming stuck .

First responders used a backboard to lift her off the hill.

The woman was conscious during the rescue. She suffered multiple injuries, including one to her leg. She was taken to a nearby hospital and was reported in serious but stable condition.
