MADISON, WI — With the presidential election barely a week away, Democratic nominee and former vice president Joe Biden has built a formidable lead in Pennsylvania, a new poll indicates.

The survey also has Biden with a substantial edge over Trump in Wisconsin and Michigan, two other battleground states. The poll was conducted Oct. 13-21 by YouGov and was overseen by the University of Madison-Wisconsin Elections Research Center in collaboration with the Wisconsin State Journal.

In Pennsylvania and Michigan, Biden is leading by a margin of 52 percent to 44 percent over Trump. In Wisconsin, Biden holds a 53 percent to 44 percent advantage over the president.

According to the Elections Research Center, the difference from its previous poll in September is that a larger share of undecided and potential minor party voters now backing Biden.

Biden has a massive lead among those who have already voted, according to the poll. Although Trump is favored by those who are yet to vote, the margin is not large enough to compensate for Biden’s advantage in the early vote.

According to the center, Biden leads by about 20 points among women across the three states and Trump leading by about 3 points among men.

Knowing that Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes could mean the difference between victory and defeat in the Nov. 3 election, Trump had three appearance scheduled in the Keystone State on Monday. The president appeared in Allentown, Lancaster and in Blair County.

At the Allentown event, Trump boasted that he is polling well in Montana, a state that has not backed a Democratic presidential candidate since 1992.

“In Montana we’re so far up they don’t even — they shouldn’t even have the election,” he said. “Likewise in Utah, so far up we’re plus 12, plus 15. In West Virginia, we’re 20 up — 20 points up. These are just — they came out today.”

Utah and West Virginia typically are Republican strongholds in presidential elections.

Biden visited Pennsylvania over the weekend and is expected to appear in Georgia on Tuesday. Vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris will campaign in Texas later this week and former President Barack Obama likely will stump for Biden in Florida.
