Bobcat On The Loose Near Pittsburgh
Most bobcats are shy and nocturnal. But a local municipality is warning of one on the loose that is not.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Officials in South Fayette near Pittsburgh are urging residents to be extra cautious regarding outdoor dogs, cats and other pets after a bobcat was sighted in the township.
The animal was spotted in the vicinity of Sterling Ridge on Battle Ridge Road, according to the township Facebook page.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, bobcats should not pose a threat to humans. But pets could be at risk if left unattended or unsecured.
Small animals — mice, rats, shrews, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, rabbits and hares — form the
nucleus of the bobcat’s diet. But like most other predators, bobcats are opportunists, the department warned.
