'Bored' Volunteer Firefighter Charged With Arson

PITTSBURGH, PA - A volunteer firefighter in suburban Munhall has been charged with setting two fires in the borough.

Ryan Laubham, 19, of Lawrence Avenue, a volunteer firefighter with Munhall Volunteer Fire Company No. 4, told police he set the fires because he was bored, according to a criminal complaint.

Responding to an intentionally set house fire on Crawford Avenue on Monday, Munhall Police were told by another avenue resident that someone had tried to set their home on fire last week. Police reviewed surveillance video and identified Laubham as the suspect.

Laubham admitted setting the set the fires out of boredom, according to the criminal complaint.

Laubham faces charges that include aggravated arson, causing or risking a catastrophe and criminal mischief. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
