Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin Released From Cincinnati Hospital
The Pittsburgh native returned to Buffalo on Monday, a week after a terrifying on-field incident that nearly cost him his life.

CINCINNATI, OH — Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was released from a hospital here on Monday, a week after suffering cardiac arrest and nearly dying on the football field in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where Hamlin was recovering since the January 2nd medical emergency, announced his discharge Monday afternoon in a statement released through the Bills.

After making a tackle in the Bills-Bengals game, Hamlin, a Pittsburgh native, received a defibrillation and CPR on the field before being taken to the hospital.

Doctors have not said whether the Central Catholic High School graduate and former University of Pittsburgh star, eventually will be able to resume his NFL career. In a news conference last week, they declined to detail the potential long-term implications of the incident that nearly cost him his life.
Hamlin indicated on Monday that he continues to receive treatment at Buffalo General Medical Center.

On Sunday, as the Bills defeated the New England Patriots in their regular season-ending 35-23 victory, Hamlin rooted on his team from his hospital bed. The Bills wore No. 3 Hamlin patches on their jerseys during the game.
Hamlin's GoFundMe page to raise money for a children's toy drive, established two years ago, has now raised $8.6 million. The vast majority of the money has poured in since his injury. His initial goal for the campaign was $2,500.
