Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin's Family Issues Statement
The Pittsburgh native went into cardiac arrest Monday in the first quarter of the Bills-Bengals game.

CINCINNATI, OH — Damar Hamlin's family released a statement Tuesday as the Buffalo Bills safety and Pittsburgh native remained in critical condition after going into cardiac arrest Monday in the Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
"On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time," the family stated in a message posted on the NFL's website. "We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words and donations from fans around the country."
The family promised to share updates on Hamlin's condition "as soon as we have them."

In the game's first quarter, Hamlin tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins after a 13-yard catch. Hamlin got to his feet, then collapsed. He received CPR on the field before being taken in an ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin reportedly has been sedated.

A GoFundMe page established to support a toy drive for Hamlin's mother's day care center in McKees Rocks, PA, has received $4.3 million in pledges as of Tuesday afternoon. Founded in 2020 with a goal of raising $2,500, it has received renewed support since Monday's tragic incident.
"We can’t thank all of you enough," the Hamlin family wrote on the page. "Your generosity and
compassion mean the world to us."
Hamlin is a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and played college football at the University of Pittsburgh.
