Join the American Heart Association and more than 3,000 community members for the new Pittsburgh Heart Walk™ experience at Point State Park. This reimagined, participant-centered event combines family-friendly activities, Hands-Only CPR education, survivor stories, heart-healthy resources, and a community walk dedicated to saving lives.

Attendees will experience the new Be Extraordinary Experience Area, featuring interactive activities that empower people to take simple steps toward better heart health and learn lifesaving skills.

The event's opening ceremony will feature Yvonne, a two-time cardiac arrest survivor, who will share her inspiring story and lead a ceremonial drumbeat in honor of heart and stroke survivors.

Families, corporate teams, survivors, and supporters will fill the park and walk route in a celebration of hope, health, and community impact.

Schedule

  • 8:00 a.m. – Be Extraordinary Experience Area opens
  • 9:45 a.m. – Heart Walk Opening Ceremony featuring survivor drumbeat and inspirational stories
  • Heart Walk begins following the ceremony

Be Extraordinary Experience Area

Visitors can enjoy:

  • Free COVID-19 and flu vaccinations courtesy of Giant Eagle Pharmacy
  • Blood pressure screenings provided by Pitt Pharmacy students
  • Life's Essential 8 health education station
  • Kids Corner activities
  • Hands-Only CPR learning stations
  • Always in Our Hearts remembrance area, where participants can create an origami heart in honor of a loved one lost to heart disease or stroke

Why It Matters

More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals each year, and nearly 90% are fatal. Immediate bystander CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival. The Heart Walk helps expand CPR education, support groundbreaking research, and advance equitable health for all.

Registration

Register online at www.heart.org/PittsburghWalk. Participants can create a fundraising page, complete the Lifesaver Challenge, and learn Hands-Only CPR in just 90 seconds. On-site registration will also be available beginning at 8:00 a.m. on event day.
