PITTSBURGH, PA - Carnegie Mellon University will construct a new 265-bed dormitory on Forbes Avenue across from Geisling Stadium and a campus parking garage. University officials plan to brief the city planning commission next week on the proposed Forbes-Beeler Residence Hall.

The dorm would be built on property now used for parking and also housing the Doherty Apartments, which will be demolished in the spring.

According to documents filed with the planning commission, the dorm also will include a market and bike storage area.
