Celebrate Ex-Penguin Jagr's Number Retirement With Free Haircut

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh-based restaurant chain is teaming with a hair salon to give away free haircuts on the day when one of the city's most famous athletes ever will have his number retired.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Jaromir Jagr was famous not just for his hockey prowess but also for his mullet-style hair when he played for the team. So on Sunday, before his number 68 is lifted to the rafters of PPG Paints Arena, Primanti Bros. and Sports Clips will give free mullet haircuts.

"Primanti Bros. is partnering with Sports Clips to give out free mullet haircuts outside of our Market Square restaurant on Sunday, Feb. 18th from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. before the game. Brave participants will get a free Primanti sandwhich through the end of the Pittsburgh Penguins' season, including the playoffs."

The Penguins announced in November that Jagr's jersey will be retired in the Feb. 18 pregame ceremony before the Pens play the Los Angeles Kings. All fans in attendance will receive a replica Jagr No. 68 banner.

Drafted by Pittsburgh in the first round (5th overall) of the 1990 NHL Draft, Jagr spent the first 11 seasons of his 24-year NHL career with the Penguins, appearing in 806 regular-season games. He notched 439 goals, 640 assists, 1,079 points and had 78 game-winning goals.

He is in the top-5 in franchise history in games played (5th), goals (4th), assists (4th), points (4th), plus/minus (2nd) and game-winning goals (4th). He was one of 13 captains in team history, serving in the role from 1998-01.

Not really keen on a mullet? You still can benefit from Jagr's number being retired. If you buy one classic Primanti Bros. sandwich on Sunday, you can purchase another for just 68 cents.
