Check Out National Aviary's New Cute, Cuddly Sloth
The cute creature soon will be available for interactive meet-and-greets.
PITTSBURGH, PA - If cute was currency, National Aviary staffers would be wealthy indeed after introducing the facility’s latest attraction - a two-toed sloth named Vivien, named after the late actress Vivien Leigh.
The 14.5-inch long, 2.5-pound sloth is a rainforest animal whose natural habitat is shrinking because of human activity. Vivien will be raised by aviary staff to be comfortable around people and the aviary’s other two sloths - Wookiee and Valentino, named after another late film star, Rudolph Valentino.
“Like Valentino, this precious little girl sloth will be an ambassador for her species and for all those creatures that live in the rain forests and cloud forests of Central and South America,” aviary executive director Chery Tracy said. “ And we hope that one day, several years down the road, Vivien and Valentino will become parents to new sloths born at the National Aviary.”
