Chris Rock Pittsburgh-Bound; Here's What You'll Pay To See Him
Ticket prices for Chris Rock's comedy tour have spiked in some cities since Sunday's altercation with Will Smith at the Academy Awards.

PITTSBURGH, PA — After the slap heard round the world, comedian Chris Rock is traveling around the country on tour - and after the Academy Awards presenter was slapped by actor Will Smith during the Oscars, interest in seeing him perform has intensified.
Rock's "Ego Death 2022" tour kicks off Wednesday in Boston. Tickets were as low as $4o on Monday, Patch reported. As of Wednesday morning, weekend performance prices had risen to more than $1,300, according to TickPick.
TickPick also said it has sold more tickets to the comedian’s tour since Smith's slap than it did in the past month, according to Variety.

For those who completely ignore cinema, pop culture and the 24-hour news cycle, Smith went onstage at the Academy Awards on Sunday and slapped Rock after he made a joke about his wife. About an hour later, Smith won the best actor award, which made for one of the strangest acceptance speeches in the history of the Oscars.
Smith since has apologized for the incident. Rock hasn't commented, although almost certainly will do so before his tour comes to Pittsburgh September 26 at the Benedum Center.

Thankfully, the ticket price spike that has occurred in Boston hasn't happened here - yet.
According to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust website, 13 tickets in the orchestra and lower balcony were available Wednesday for $69.50. Several dozen upper balcony seats could be had for $49.50.
The show is close to selling out, however, and secondary ticket sellers could command much higher prices as the show draws near. But that happens with most sold-out shows regardless if the performer has been publicly slapped.
