Citizens Bank Partners with Feeding America on Virtual Food Drive

PITTSBURGH, PA – Citizens Bank today announced that it is partnering with Feeding America on a virtual food drive to support the organization.

The virtual food drive, which runs through Oct. 7, enables both Citizens colleagues and customers to participate by contributing funds through Feeding America’s online donation page. Each dollar donated will provide 10 meals in communities served by the bank. In addition, Citizens will match each dollar donated up to $25,000.

In addition to the virtual food drive, Citizens Bank colleagues will volunteer throughout the month at local food banks and will help raise awareness in support of Hunger Action Month to provide hunger relief, nutrition assistance, and help improve access to food for families. Additionally the bank has donated $65,000 this year to food banks throughout the region.

Forty-one million people face hunger in the U.S. — including nearly thirteen million children and more than five million seniors. Citizens Bank recently announced a new partnership with Feeding America which will provide $1 million to help fund more than 30 programs in 21 markets throughout the communities the bank serves.

In Western Pennsylvania, Citizens Bank has partnered with Giant Eagle supermarkets and CBS television’s KDKA-TV for the Feed the Kids This Summer Telethon for the past five years. With 500,000 low-income children in Pennsylvania depending on school breakfast and lunch programs during the school year, summer can be particularly difficult for those in need. Proceeds from the telethon benefit Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, specifically for programs that provide meals to children in need during the summer months. The Feed the Kids This Summer Telethon also raises community awareness to address this critical issue.
