Coronavirus Case Surge Continues In Allegheny County

Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department reported no new coronavirus deaths on Monday. The county death toll remains at 186.

However, 83 new cases were reported. While that number is less than the 96 reported on Sunday and the 90 on Saturday, it's still one of the highest numbers of new cases since the outbreak began. The number of cases during the outbreak in the county now stands at 2,651, up from 2,568 on Sunday.

In the newest cases, ages range from 9 to 89 with the median age being 26. According to the health department, new cases will continue to be assigned to case investigators to gather information from those individuals and then contact tracing will begin.

Three hundred and eighty-six people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak. There were four new hospitalizations on Sunday.

With 638 confirmed cases in Beaver County, 587 in Westmoreland County, 284 in Butler County and 187 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 4,357. That's up from 4,264, but that number reflects only the number of new cases in Allegheny County as the state has not yet updated its numbers from the weekend.

According to the state Department of Health, 321 people have died thus far in the five-county region: One hundred and eighty-six in Allegheny County, 78 in Beaver County, 38 in Westmoreland County, 13 in Butler County and six in Washington County.
