CINCINNATI, OH — After a near-fatal incident on the football field Monday, Buffalo Bills safety and Pittsburgh native Damar Hamlin's condition is improving, the team said. As he attempts to recover, NFL teams and players are contributing thousands of dollars to his charity toy drive.

Hamlin, 24, a former University of Pittsburgh star, suffered cardiac arrest during the Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals and had to be resuscitated twice - once on the field and and once at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition on Thursday.

Although Hamlin remains in the center's intensive care unit, the Bills stated late Wednesday that he is showing signs of improvement.
