'Dance Moms' Star Shuffling Off To Prison
Pittsburgh native Abby Lee Miller has been sentenced to a year and a day after pleading guilty to bankruptcy fraud, other charge.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Abby Lee Miller, the former star of the reality TV show “Dance Moms” won’t be giving any dance lessons for the next year unless she provides them to her fellow prison inmates.
Miller on Tuesday was sentenced to a year and a day in prison for bankruptcy fraud and for bringing $120,000 worth of Australian currency into the country without reporting it. Miller also was fined $40,000 by a federal judge and will spend two years on probation after being released.
Miller, a Pittsburgh native, pleaded guilty last year to charges she hid $775,000 worth of income from her creditors and failed to report the Australian money. Her attorneys argued for probation.

The founder of the Abby Lee Dance Company in Penn Hills, Miller had been on “Dance Moms” since its 2011 debut on Lifetime. She announced in March via Instagram that she was leaving the show and angrily denounced the show’s producers for failing to credit her for her ideas.
