Daylight Saving Time: Set Your Clocks Back, Pittsburgh

Time to "fall back" and reset any analog clocks you have.

PITTSBURGH, PA - On the bright side, your early mornings are about to become, well, brighter. But with Daylight Saving Time coming to an end this weekend, it’s going to be dark before most people have dinner.

At 2 a.m. on Sunday, clocks need to “fall back” an hour to 1 a.m. Most computers, phones and DVRs automatically reset, but you’ll have to manually change any analog clocks.

What does the time change mean for Pittsburgh besides an extra hour of sleep for people? On Saturday, sunrise occurs at 7:54 a.m. and sunset happens at 6:12 p.m. On Sunday, the sun will rise at 6:55 a.m. and set at 5:11 p.m.

The days will continue to get shorter until the winter solstice occurs on Dec. 21, when we’ll have just nine hours and 16 minutes of daylight. The sun will rise that day at 7:39 a.m. and set at 4:56 p.m.

Daylight Saving Time, or “daylight savings time” as it’s commonly known, returns on March 12.
