Dormant Pittsburgh Nightclub Reopening Under New Name

A favorite nightclub in Pittsburgh is coming back to life after a six-months of closure.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburghers of a certain age likely have been to this place before.

The Clarks called it home for an extended period. The Affordable Floors played there frequently. Donnie Iris recorded a live album there. In 1995, Bruce Springsteen joined Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers onstage.

The space was Nick's Fat City. Then it was Diesel. Five years ago, it was renamed Foxtail. That club closed in July.

The space on East Carson Street in the South Side now will reopen as Avalon Social Club. A special preview event will occur on New Year's Eve, according to the nightclub's Instagram page.

The club has yet to announce its hours after that. Nor has a concept for the club been revealed.
