Dr. Phil Apologizes For Slippery Rock University Comment
In an interview last week, the talk show host disparaged the school located about an hour north of Pittsburgh.

Phil McGraw, better known as "Dr. Phil" to fans of the author and psychologist's daytime TV show, has apologized to Slippery Rock University for insulting the university during an interview last week.
Speaking on the college admissions bribery scandal, McGraw said parents want to tell people that their child attends a well-known school with a good reputation, such as Harvard or Yale.
“I think it’s bragging rights for them," McGraw said. "They they don’t want to be the one parent that says, ‘Well, yeah, my kid’s going to, like, Slippery Rock.'"

Over the weekend, university president Bill Behre posted a letter to McGraw on the university's Facebook page calling the the school an affordable option where students whose parents work to pay their mortgage will find a quality institution that open doors to the American dream.
In an apology that the university also posted, McGraw admitted that he didn't know that Slippery Rock was an actual university.

"I was unaware of your school and intended to use a fictitious example," he said. "One hundred percent my mistake."
Slippery Rock, which has an enrollment of nearly 9,000 students, is located about an hour north of Pittsburgh.
