Elton John Mesmerizes In Final Pittsburgh Concert

John, 72, captivated the crowd during his last performance in Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Elton John made his final Pittsburgh appearance Wednesday and by all accounts put on an amazing show with a 25-song set that spanned his entire career.

Here's what Pittsburgh-area reviewers had to say about the show:

Paul Guggenheimer, Triblive: "Despite being 72, John brought energy and passion to the nearlythree-hour performance that is impressive for a man of any age. The show began with a big, bouncy, extra funked-up version of “Bennie and the Jets.” John emerged wearing a black sequined frock coat with matching pants, each lined with red piping on the flared lapels and pant legs. He
wore a dangly silver earring in his right ear and thick-rimmed, green sparkly glasses."

Scott Tady, Beaver County Times: "The homestretch delivered a high-energy, briskly paced hit parade with “The Bitch is Back,” “I’m Still Standing,” “Crocodile Rock” and a cascade of confetti for that little ditty about Saturday nights being all right for fighting, and getting a little action in.
John and his band brought a lot of action Wednesday to Pittsburgh. He went out a winner, giving local fans unforgettable memories."

Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "There was a weepy feeling walking out but the lingering issue is that Elton John, at 72, playing three hours, is still a volcanic force of nature on piano and vocals. If there's a sunset at the end of the Yellow Brick Road, he might be riding into it a little bit too soon."
