Ethan Coen's Pittsburgh-Filmed Movie Gets Title, Release Date

The Academy Award-winning director shot his latest movie in Pittsburgh last summer.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The movie Oscar-winner director Ethan Coen filmed in the Pittsburgh area last fall now has a title and release date. "Drive Away Dolls," a road trip comedy, will open on Sept. 22.

The film stars Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan.

According to a release, the film follows Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an
impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals.

Ethan Coen and his brother Joel, appropriately known as the Coen Brothers, are known for such acclaimed hits as “Fargo,” “The Big Lebowski,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” “No Country for Old Men” and “True Grit."

Ehtan Coen did not collaborate with his brother on "Drive Away Dolls."
