Fleury Pens Heartfelt Farewell to Pittsburgh, Penguins
The former Penguins goalie was lost last week to the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Marc-Andre Fleury might be gone, but he hasn’t forgotten the city where he played for so many years. The former Penguins goalie penned a touching thank you to Pittsburgh and Pens fans in a post on The Players Tribune, a website that publishes content provided by professional athletes.
Fleury, selected last week by the Las Vegas Golden Knights in an expansion draft, wrote that he couldn’t adequately put into words the impact that fan support has had on him and his family.
“We have become Pittsburghers,” he said. “My wife graduated from Robert Morris University, my daughters were born at Magee-Womens Hospital (sorry our commercial has been blasting on your TVs for more than a year), and our first house was in Moon. Pittsburgh and its people will forever be in our hearts.”
Fleury also was grateful for the support he received during the past few weeks when it became apparent he would be leaving the team.
“All the calls, messages, pictures, the nice articles and videos. It has meant so much to me and my family as we are getting ready to begin a new chapter in our lives,” he wrote. “It seems like just yesterday that I was a kid in this blue suit that my agent bought me for the draft, wearing this tie that I didn’t even know how to tie.”
