FNB Donating $1 Million To Pittsburgh Promise Student Scholarship Fund

First National Bank's parent company made the announcement on Thursday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — FNB Corporation on Thursday announced its total commitment to the Pittsburgh Promise student scholarship fund will be $1 million.

A named scholarship will be established for the bank and five graduating Pittsburgh Public Schools seniors will be selected annually and named as the “FNB Corporation Scholars of The Pittsburgh Promise.” They will have the opportunity to build mentoring and professional relationships with company leaders as they pursue their post-secondary degrees.

The Pittsburgh Promise offers several opportunities for scholarship recipients including programs and events to help Promise scholars and alumni achieve academic success and connect with regional employers.

Along with Promise and Pittsburgh Public Schools officials, FNB presented the gift at the Promise’s Preferred College Partners Opportunity Fair, where hundreds of students met with representatives from trade, 2-year, and 4-year post-secondary schools.

The preferred college partners are post-secondary institutions that make specific commitments of grants and other support to ensure the success of Promise scholars. Admissions officers representing these 41 post-secondary campuses actively recruited students, offered on-site admission, and provided on-the-spot scholarships.
