Former Steelers Co-Owner Patrick Rooney Dies
Once a minority owner of the Steelers, Rooney died Sunday in Florida.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Patrick Rooney, son of Steelers founder Art Rooney and the brother of the late Steelers president Dan Rooney, died Monday in Palm Beach, FL. He was 84.
The Steelers announced his death via social media on Tuesday.
"Like his twin brother John, who passed away in 2022, Pat grew up on the North Side of Pittsburgh and graduated from North Catholic High School," the team stated in online posts. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Patrick Rooney and his four brothers once owned an equal stake in the franchise, but in 2009 the team's ownership structure changed when the NFL forced a divestiture.
