Former Steelers Player Facing Animal Cruelty Allegations

An ex-Steelers player has been accused of animal cruelty in court documents filed Wednesday in Alabama.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A former Pittsburgh Steelers player and current defensive lineman for the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs has been accused of animal cruelty in civil court documents filed Wednesday in Tuscaloosa County District Court.

Isaiah Buggs, who played three seasons for the Steelers, allegedly left dogs on the screened-in back porch of a home he was renting before moving out on March 19 due to owing back rent. According to court filings obtained by the Tuscaloosa Patch, on March 28 police and animal control officers found the dogs severely "malnourished, emaciated and neglected."

Buggs is expected to face is misdemeanor criminal charges in the case, the Tuscaloosa Patch reported.

Buggs, who played college football for Alabama, was the Steelers' sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was released by the team in January 2022 and since has played for the Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit Lions and the Chiefs.
