Franco Harris Tribute Event To Feature Temptations, Joe Greene

A tribute to the late Steelers Hall-of Famer and his dedication to The Pittsburgh Promise scholarship fund will occur Saturday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Temptations will headline a tribute to Saturday to the late Steelers Hall-of-Famer Franco Harris and his wife Dana and their service to The Pittsburgh Promise. The scholarship program has helped to fund the higher education of more than 11,000 students.

Harris, who died suddenly in December, was the Promise's founding board chairman.

The event, at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Downtown, is expected to include an announcement of more than $3 million in new new contributions to the Promise.

In addition to a concert by the Temptations, the event also will include remarks from Steelers owner Art Rooney II and Joe Greene, another Steelers Hall-of-Famer.

About 900 people are expected to attend the sold-out event.
