PITTSBURGH, PA — Dogs, birds, and raccoons might be familiar sights in downtown Pittsburgh, but what about wolves and deer, or dragons?

You could see all these creatures and more as Anthrocon returns to the convention center downtown from June 30-July 3. Anthrocon celebrates anthropomorphic (humanlike) animal characters and the people who identify with, create, and draw them.

There will also be a block party on July 2 on Penn Avenue between 9th and 11th Streets.

"We’re partnering with the City of Pittsburgh, along with local establishments and services to create an afternoon of friendly, safe mingling where we can share the magic of our fandom," Anthrocon said on its website. The block party is between noon and 9 p.m. on that Saturday.

At the block party, organizers said, there will be tents and areas for people in fursuits to cool down.

Online pre-registration has ended. At-the-door registration begins June 30 at 2 p.m. in the convention center. There are additional policies in place for minors.
