PITTSBURGH, PA - What’s going on in Pittsburgh this weekend? Oh, just the biggest stadium concert in city history.
Garth Brooks has sold nearly 73,000 tickets for his first Pittsburgh stop in four years. On Saturday, he'll shatter the Heinz Field attendance record of 69,983 tickets sold for the University of Pittsburgh-Penn State University football game in September 2016.
Expect to hear Brooks play classic hits such as "Standing Outside The Fire," "Friends In Low Places," "Two Pina Coladas," and "The Thunder Rolls."

- EQT Children's Theater Festival, May 16-19, various locations and times in the Downtown Cultural District.
The 32nd annual festival is dedicated to continuing the tradition of theater for children. It features live performances from professional, international artists who engage children of all ages from different cultures and perspectives, showing them different ways to express ideas. There are some ticketed performances, but many free activities, exciting performances and family-friendly art.

More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the United States Concealed Carry Association’s consumer show dedicated to opening a world of tactical ingenuity to responsible gun owners. The event offers safe and practical seminars from firearm industry experts, a free live-fire shooting range to test new handguns and a huge selection of gear, services and information from gun industry vendors.
- Wholey’s Oyster Festival, May 17-19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wholey’s Fish Market, Strip District.
It's truly an oyster extravaganza as Wholey’s will have all sorts of oyster varieties to choose from. Head to the market for a free seafood class all about oysters and get to taste some samples. Enjoy special sales and offers on oysters along with tips and recipes, as well as live entertainment by accordion player, Kevin Solecki.
- 32nd Annual Pennwriters Conference, May 17-19, Pittsburgh Airport Marriott.
The 3conference features three days of workshops, panels, networking and learning to help writers. Friday, Saturday and Sunday feature an open attendance slate of one-hour workshops on all things writing. The schedule is structured with open attendance, so you can take whichever classes appeal to you. Attendees will have 40+ hours of sessions to choose from. the faculty is comprised of published authors, literary agents and editors, and other writing industry professionals. Pitch appointments are available at no additional fee.
