Giant Eagle Again Changing Weekly Circular Distribution Method
The grocery chain last month halted mailing the weekly circulars that promoted items on sale.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Giant Eagle is reversing course on its weekly circular distribution. A month after halting their mailings, the grocery chain announced Monday that a revamped circular will return to Western Pennsylvania mailboxes on May 2.
The format is being tweaked, however. The two-page circular will highlight the strongest product promotions and feature a QR code that will take people to Giant Eagle's website, where customers can find the sale prices of other items.
“We are committed to putting our customers at the center of everything we do to ensure we provide what is most important to them, and what they want most right now is high-quality products at a good price,” said Brian Ferrier, Giant Eagle senior vice president of merchandising.

“Our new printed circular will showcase huge savings on some of our most popular items
and will provide an opportunity for customers to discover hundreds of additional sale items by scanning the QR code that will be featured on the front page of every circular.”
The move comes amid news that Walmart has surpassed the Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle as the market's most popular grocery. Walmart has 25 percent of the market share to Giant Eagle's 21 percent, according to a recent Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.
