PITTSBURGH, PA — Giant Eagle plans to engage in inflation-busting this summer by reducing and then locking in prices on 800 items for three months.

The grocery chain said its "Price Lock" will begin Thursday and last until Aug. 9.

The company said prices on the affected items, which will include hot dog buns, ground meat, seafood, produce and dairy items will be cut by an average of 20 percent. The items will be featured in Giant Eagle's weekly printed circulars, which returned Tuesday after the company briefly experimented with an online-only version.
