Giant Eagle Onions Part Of Nationwide Recall

The grocery chain has issued a recall notice regarding the onions.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Onions sold at Giant Eagle and Market District stores throughout the Pittsburgh area are part of a nationwide recall because of a potential salmonella risk, the grocery chain announced on its website.

Giant Eagle on Sunday sent automated phone alerts to customers who have purchased Thomson International and Onions52 brand products since June. The recall notice applies to white, yellow and sweet onions.

Customers can obtain a refund if they bring an onion receipt to their local Giant Eagle or Market District. Any remaining should be thrown out.
