Good Friday 2019: What's Open, Closed Around Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA - Good Friday, the solemn Christian holiday held in remembrance of Jesus's death on the cross, occurs on April 19. Here's a rundown rundown of what's is open and what is closed for the day:

  • Federal offices: open
  • State offices: open
  • Post office: open
  • State liquor stores: open
  • Banks: open
  • New York Stock Exchange: closed
  • Allegheny County: The Court of Common Pleas, Department of Court Records and District Attorney's Office will be closed. All offices under the auspices of the county executive will be open.
  • City of Pittsburgh: All city offices and facilities - including Citiparks recreation and senior centers - will be closed with the exception of the Mellon Park Tennis Bubble. However, there will be regular refuse collection.
  • Municipal government offices: Some are open, some are closed. If you have business with any local government office, it probably is best to call before going there.
