Gun Seized At Pittsburgh Airport Security Checkpoint

PITTSBURGH, PA — Allegheny County police have charged a Los Angeles man after a firearm was discovered at the Pittsburgh International security checkpoint on Monday.

At 4:06 p.m. Transportation Security Administration officers observed a handgun within a passenger’s carry-on bag at the main security checkpoint and alerted county police. They determined that the passenger, Isaiah Hernandez, 26, did not possess a valid concealed carry permit.

Hernandez has been charged with carrying a firearm without a license and the FBI was notified.

Passengers who bring firearms into an airport security checkpoint can face federal civil fines from the Transportation Security Administration up to $10,000. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
