Health Department Shuts Down Pittsburgh Deli

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Matrins Meat & Deli on Wood Street in Wilkinsburg for numerous health code violations.
A recent inspection found:
- Cold food held at unsafe temperatures.
- Inadequate equipment to maintain temperature.
- Evidence of improper employee personal hygiene.
- Lack of soap at the hand washing sink.
- Inadequate cleaning and sanitization of food contact surfaces.
- A lack of hot water in the deli.
- The deli was operating without a food permit.
The health department said the full inspection report currently is unavailable.
