Health Department Shuts Down Popular Pittsburgh Food Truck

The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the food truck to cease operations.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a closure notice for the Monroeville-based India on Wheels 2.0. The food truck had been operating on the Carnegie Mellon University campus in Oakland.

A recent inspection found that hot foods were being held at improper temperatures; malfunctioning facilities to maintain proper food temperatures; failure to monitor food temperatures with a probe thermometer; lack of water supply; inadequate handwashing ;
facilities, lack of a Certified Food Protection Manager and the mobile unit failing to report to the commissary as needed.

It's unclear when - or if - the truck will be permitted to operate again.
