High Winds, Heavy Rain Headed Toward Pittsburgh
Prepare for a wild weather day in Western Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — High winds are likely and heavy rain is possible for the Pittsburgh area Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for southwestern Pennsylvania from 1 p.m. today until 1 a.m. Saturday. A high wind warning is in effect for areas east of Allegheny County.
Expect southwest winds from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and power outages could occur. Such strong winds could make driving difficult, especially in high-profile vehicles.

Rain is expected to arrive shortly after noon, with a quarter of an inch possible this afternoon. Rainfall will intensify tonight, with as much as three-quarters of an inch falling. The rain is expected to end Saturday morning.
