Huge Music Festival Among 5 Fun Pittsburgh Weekend Events
Here's your Patch guide to what's going on around town Aug. 6-8.
PITTSBURGH, PA — It's going to be a hot weekend in Pittsburgh, but plenty of activities and events are occurring. Here are some Patch suggestions for things to do:
- Millvale Music Festival, Aug. 6-7, various locations and times, Millvale.
Live music is back in a big way in the Pittsburgh area, with more than 250 bands playing various Millvale venues. Expect to see southwestern Pennsylvania favorites such as the Granati Brothers, Gene the Werewolf and more. See the full band lineup here.
- Gamma Pickleball Classic, Aug. 6-8, various times, David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
It's appropriate that a city that has an annual festival devoted to pickles (Picklesburgh) would host a tournament named after them. One of the nation's fastest growing sports, pickleball combines elements of badminton, table tennis and tennis. The classic is open to all players of various experience and skill levels.

- 24/7 Brawl in the Burgh 8, Aug. 7, 7 p.m., Monroeville Convention Center.
Where else in town this weekend can you expect to see 10 mixed martial arts fights, including the Amateur Female Bantamweight Title Fight? You don't have an answer because there is nowhere else to see them.
- Neighborhood Flea, Aug. 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 3 Crossings, Strip District.
There's few better ways to spend a Sunday than shopping for bargains and grabbing food to go at this monthly Strip District event at 26th and Railroad streets. Parking is available at 27th and Railroad is $3. Food trucks will be on hand in case you get hungry while bargain hunting.

- The Jayhawks, Aug. 8, 7:3o p.m., Hartwood Acres, Indiana Township
This veteran Minneapolis band is touring in support of its 11th album, "XOXO," which the group's website says combines American roots music with the British Invasion and jangly power pop. Colin Southfield will be the opening act at this free Allegheny County Summer Concert Seriesperformance.
