I-79 Speed Limit Reduced In Accident-Prone Construction Area

PennDOT has reduced the speed limit in a construction zone near the I-79-I-279 split.

PITTSBURGH, PA — PennDOT has announced a reduced 45 mph speed limit on Interstate 279 in a work zone between the I-79-279 split and the Glenfield Bridge.

The reduction has been made after several crashes occurred after a southbound crossover on I-79 was implemented on Saturday so that crews could begin bridge deck replacement work.

Additionally, all southbound traffic now will use a single lane.
