ICE Arrests 13 At Drivers' License Facility In Armstrong County: Reports

The 13 were detained Friday, according to reports.

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, PA — A total of 13 individuals were arrested by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at a drivers' license facility in Armstrong County on Friday, multiple reports indicated.

According to WPXI.com, a statement was provided by a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson stating that ICE responded to calls from the East Franklin Police Department "after concerned citizens reported an abnormally large amount of individuals outside the PennDOT driver licensing center in Kittanning, Pennsylvania."

Neither the East Franklin Police Department nor ICE media representatives immediately responded to requests for comments from Patch.

TribLive reported that the detained people were reportedly "in the U.S. illegally and come from countries including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan," according to DHS spokesperson Jason Koontz. According to TribLive, Koontz said one resisted arrested and reportedly assaulted a law enforcement officer.

DHS did not immediately respond to a request for additional comment from Patch.

The incident remains under investigation, WTAE reported.
