Iconic Pittsburgh Eatery Closing After Four Decades
If you want a meal at this restaurant, you'd better get there quickly for a final meal.
PITTSBURGH, PA — For 40 years, Mandarin Garden has been a staple of the Downtown Pittsburgh dining scene. The Wood Street restaurant has been popular not just among those who work Downtown but also among students at the nearby Point Park University.
However, the restaurant is going out of business at the end of the month. An announcement of the impending closure was posted on social media.
The move is not entirely unexpected. The restaurant is housed in the former YWCA of Pittsburgh building, which was purchased last year by City Club Apartments LLC.

City Club plans to construct a 20-story tower with 300 apartments atop the existing building. Its plans already have forced the relocation of Point Park's Center for Media Innovation from the YMCA building to another location on the university's campus.
