Jackie Evancho, Taco Festival Top Pittsburgh Weekend Events

PITTSBURGH, PA - With her new album “The Debut,” and world tour, multi-platinum recording artist Jackie Evancho returns to her hometown this weekend to treat people to a selection of songs from hit Browdway musicals. Expect to hear songs from “Hamilton,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Waitress,” “Once,” “Spring Awakening” and more.

The show also will feature classic songs from Evancho’s past repertoire that have come to win audiences over the years; songs such as “O Mio Mio Babbino Caro,” “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Nessun Dorma.”

Evancho performs May 31 at 8 p.m. at the Byham Theater, Downtown.

  • Trevor Noah, May 31, 8 p.m. Petersen Events Center, Oakland

The host of the Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central brings his standup routine and political observations to the University of Pittsburgh campus. He must be doing something right at his day job, as “The Daily Show” was nominated for three Emmys this year - including outstanding variety talk series.

The walking wounded that are your Pittsburgh Pirates this year return home after their briefest road trip of the season - three days in the Queen City to play the Reds. Friday is (naturally) Free Shirt Friday, Chris Archer bobbleheads will be given away on Saturday and Sunday is another Rivendale Kids Ice Cream Sunday.

  • Highmark’s International StrEAT Festival, June 1-2, Penn Avenue between Stanwix and Seventh streets, Downtown.

Penn Avenue will be lined with vendors from all over southwestern Pennsylvania Region. There will be stage performances, eating contests, raffles, games, cooking demonstrations and more. Among those performing will be the jimmy Sapienza Duo, Jessica Lee Jazz and Blues, Steel City Calypso and Mia Zannotti.
