Jesus Christ Superstar, Penguins Top Pittsburgh Weekend Events

PITTSBURGH, PA - In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic musical that appeals to both theater audiences and concert music fans, the latest production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” has arrived in Pittsburgh. This production won the 2017 Olivier Award for best musical revival, garnering rave reviews and accolades.
“Jesus Christ Superstar” is set against the backdrop of a series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Gethsemane” and “Superstar.”
Catch “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Benedum Center Jan. 2 at 7:30; Jan. 3 at 8 p.m.; Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

- Food Truck-A-Palooza, Jan. 4, 12 p.m.-5 p.m,. Monroeville Convention Center
This event features 30 global food trucks food from around the world (American fare is included), an ice bar, beer, spirits, kids zone, global music, games and more. Among the food trucks that will be on hand: Humus Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Crepes, Hoshi, Emporio Meatball, Nakama and Mac and Gold.

- Lumaze, Jan 2-4, 31st Street Studios, Strip District.
It’s the final weekend for one of the world's largest indoor Christmas festivals. Lumaze is a 100,000 square-foot exhibition with more than one million lights, as well as vendors, live music, food trucks, kids play areas and a bar.

Pittsburgh’s favorite and injury-prone hockey team has a busy weekend with back-to-back home games on Saturday and Sunday.
