JFCS Career Development Center Women's Networking Series
A series of 4 topical talks/networking sessions for women seeking to upgrade their job search skills.
JFCS Career Development Center, an area nonprofit leader in employment counseling and innovative programming, announces the launch of the Women’s Networking Series 2018. This series of presentations, featuring prominent local businesswomen, employment specialists and career counselor speakers, was created in response to a perceived gap in helping women, particularly those experiencing career transitions, to market themselves in today’s job market.
The series will consist of four events, covering different topics such as using resources like LinkedIn and internet job sites, volunteering one’s way into a job, balancing family and work needs and considering temping to get a foot in the door. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions and spend some time networking, a critical skill to discovering available jobs and making connections.
This series also expands JFCS Career Development Center programs into the South Hills areas of Pittsburgh, a process that began a few years ago. Career counselors have been holding events and staffing regular appointments at several locations including the South Hills Interfaith Movement and the Mt. Lebanon library. A workforce needs assessment in the South Hills is in progress.
