KDKA-TV Bolsters Newscast Staff With West Virginia Hire

PITTSBURGH, PA — KDKA-TV has made an addition to its on-air news staff by hiring Cassidy Wood, currently the sports director at WOWK-TV in Charleston-Huntington, West Virginia. Wood starts her new duties in Pittsburgh on July 8.

Wood announced news of the move on her WOWK Facebook page.

"After seven years of grinding in this industry I can finally say I’ve landed my dream job," she stated. "Reporting on the Steelers, and Pittsburgh sports as a whole, has been something I’ve been working towards for so long and to be honest, I always envisioned it happening with KDKA."

According to Wood's WOWK page, the San Diego native previously worked as a reporter in Beaumont, Texas for two years and covered hurricanes Harvey and Imelda. She is a graduate of Oregon State University.

"Her family is originally from Fairmont, West Virginia and Pittsburgh," her biography states. "So she bleeds gold and black and twirls that Terrible Towel high above her head."
