Kennywood 2018: Major Road Project Around Park Beginning

PITTSBURGH, PA - PennDOT is getting a jumpstart on a major road improvement project that will significantly impact traffic around Kennywood this year.
The work will begin Monday, about a month before the amusement park opens for the 2018 season, on Route 837 with long-term single lane restrictions being established between Hoffman Boulevard in West Mifflin and North Second Street in Duquesne.
Route 837 is the highway that runs past the park.

The $7 million project from Duquesne to the Rankin Bridge includes road resurfacing, bridge preservation work, signal improvements, curb cut ramp installation, signage upgrades and drainage improvements.
The work will include daylight, overnight and weekend work, as well as short-and long-term lane restrictions. The project will last throughout the Kennywood season and isn’t expected to be completed until December.

Kennywood opens for season pass holders on April 28 and opens for everyone May 5.
