Kennywood Prepping For Halloween Scares
Kennywood's Phantom Fright Nights will be joined by a new kid-friendly event this year.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Kennywood’s regular season might be over, but it will reopen beginning next weekend for its traditional Halloween offerings. A new kid-friendly event, Happy Hauntings, will debut to complement the amusement park’s scarier Phantom Fright Nights.
Designed for children under 10, Happy Hauntings will include hay rides, pumpkin decorating, a mystery maze and dance party. Kiddieland will be open, as will the Auto Race, Train, Merry-Go-Round, Paratrooper and Jack Rabbit.
Kids can wear their costumes, but parts of some costumes such as capes or longer accessories may not be worn on select rides for safety reasons. No adults will be permitted in costume.

Happy Hauntings will occur Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. from October 7 through Oct. 29. Happy Hauntings tickets start at $13.99.
Phantom Fright Nights, which has been nominated for USA Today’s 10 best top Halloween theme park events, returns for its 16th year. Returning attractions include the Haunted Ark, Bio Fear, Mortem Manor and Voodoo Bayou. Rides that will be open include the Phantom’s Revenge, Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit, Sky Rocket, Exterminator, Black Widow and Ghostwood Estates.

Phantom Fright Nights are not recommended for children under 13. Outside costumes, theatrical makeup, and masks are not permitted to be worn into the park during Phantom Fright Nights and no outside food or beverages are permitted.
Phantom Fright Nights will occur Fridays and Saturdays from Sept. 29 through Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to midnight. There will be two Sunday fright nights, on Oct. 8 and 29 from 6-11 p.m. Phantom Fright Nights tickets start at $28.99 at Giant Eagle.
