Kennywood Readies For 7th Annual Holiday Lights Display
The West Mifflin amusement park has been decorated with nearly two million lights.
PITTSBURGH, PA - At Kennywood, when Santa’s sleigh is climbing the Thunderbolt tracks instead of a coaster car, it must be time for the annual Holiday Lights display.
The event illuminates the storied family amusement park with nearly two million lights, including those on Pennsylvania’s tallest Christmas tree. It’s 90 feet tall and has a 10-foot tree-topping ornament.
The Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers model train display has moved to a larger space in the Penny Arcade, and people can expect an even more elaborate attraction. Moving the display will allow more guests to get warm in the Parkside Cafe, which will offer expanded food service for the display.
Kennywood is partnering with Toys for Tots this year to collect toys for children in need. From November 24 to Dec. 10, you can get $6 off on up to four Holiday Lights tickets when bringing a new, unwrapped toy to donate.
Holiday Lights begin November 24 and will run every Friday through Sunday from 5-9 p.m. through December 23. Holiday Lights also will be open nightly from Dec. 26-30.
