Kennywood Readies For Season Opener After Addressing Security Issues
The West Mifflin amusement park received a thumbs-up on its security measures from the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.

WEST MIFFLIN, PA — Kennywood will open on time after all. Two weeks after Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala vowed to block Kennywood's April 22 opening day if security measures developed by his office were not adopted, the amusement park has an all-clear to start its 2023 season.
The security issues were resolved following a recent meeting with Kennywood officials and representatives from Zappala's office.
“The intent of the meeting and future steps is to demonstrate the shared commitment the park, law enforcement and the district attorney have to overall public safety so guests can enjoy a best-of-class entertainment experience at Kennywood,” according to a joint statement released Monday.
